The Birth of Aurora // May these words be the first

To find your ears.

The world is brighter than the sun

Now that you’re here. Though your eyes will need some time to adjust To the overwhelming light surrounding us,

I’ll give you everything I have. I’ll teach you everything I know. I promise I’ll do better. I will always hold you close, But I will learn to let you go. I promise I’ll do better. I will soften every edge, I’ll hold the world to its best, And I’ll do better. With every heartbeat I have left I will defend your every breath, And I’ll do better.

'Сause you are loved. You are loved more than you know. I hereby pledge all of my days To prove it so. Though your heart is far too young to realize The unimaginable light you hold inside //

(sleeping at last | light)

Oh, the beautiful and precious things that I get to witness when I photograph a birth. Quiet moments ... when exhausted, but happy new mommies get to finally lay eyes on their new baby ... sweet moments when daddies fall in love with their daughters ... when big brothers are instantly protective and adoring of their new little sibling. It never gets old. Truly. I leave with my cheeks hurting from smiling all day and my pockets filled with maxed out memory cards because I took too many pictures. It's the best.

This birth was no different in that I had the amazing opportunity to capture and experience some incredible moments with this brand new family of five.

I watched little miss Aurora pink up and unstretch, yawn and sneeze, cry and smile, wake up and fall back to sleep ... she is truly the cutest, most adorable little baby girl and it was such an honor to be there to capture her first few hours of life.

"I need to go out and buy her flowers today. I want to be the first one to ever buy her flowers. I don’t want anyone else buying her flowers before I do." - dad

bright eyes was WIDE awake and so alert from the moment she was born. IMG_9296-2FbIMG_9319-2FbIMG_9336-2Fb

good luck convincing me there is anything quite as sweet as baby toes.

she's a game changer, little miss Aurora. they didn't know what they were having and she surprised her parents by being the first girl with two big brothers! she also came ridiculously fast, only about an hour long labor and delivery. keeping mom and dad on their toes from day one.

first conversations with mama :)

they didn't have a name picked out for her yet until after they had a good chance to really study her face and decide who she looked like. This was the exact moment they decided on her name - Aurora Adeline.

Big brother Everett was oh so curious about his new baby sister.

Big brother (for the second time), Jameson, was pretty much enthralled with Aurora.

Meeting all this new family sure is exhausting, huh baby girl?

But seriously, have you ever seen a more beautiful mama? Nope. You haven't. Katie, you are GORGEOUS.

This was the sweetest moment, Jameson just looked at his mommy and said, "I love you soooooo much, mommy."

First moment as a family of five.
